Audience

In terms of the audience for my short film, I think anyone could possibly watch it, however the use of blood within the production could possibly limit the youngest age to around 15 as it may be to graphic for younger viewers. Overall I'd say the age range would be between 15-25 years old as that would cover a young audience, as well as an audience which attend university, since they may find it slightly relatable since I am also in university and they may have a connection to me. In addition the themes themselves may  draw the attention of a more sophisticated audience as they are more darker and less conventional, that's if they stand out as much as I hope.

Distribution

This being my first large scale project, I am planning on advertising it as much as possible, this means making posters, a Facebook and more. I want to try and get it out there as much as possible, since it would be my debut project. In addition I am thinking of possibly holding off advertising until after entering it into film competitions. The reason for this is to attempt to attain critical acclaim which could help advertise my film and also add controversy to it (if it wins or becomes a nomination). In addition this would help to add acclaim to my CV, since winning a festival is a large achievement. In terms of the competitions, I am thinking about entering it into the general category since I've looked at some festivals and it wouldn't really fit into most others. I have chosen 5 festivals right now to focus on and some of them do have an actual entrance fee.

The Screen Stockport Film Festival doesn't have a fee if you are a student, but has a max duration of 10 minutes. TBC for deadline.

The Birmingham Film Festival doesn't feature a fee and the entries start every February.

The Aesthetica Short Film Festival entrance fee is £24.00 and the deadline is 31 May 2017.

The Chichester International Film Festival has a entrance fee of £20.00 and the deadline is every May.

The Raindance Film Festival has a regular fee of £35.00 if submitted before 19th May 2017, and a fee of £50.00 if afterwards till 2nd June 2017.
